Controls for the use of surveillance cameras

The methods that work to secure public and private property are increasing, and we are now in the process of identifying the most common method of insurance, which is surveillance cameras .

How do surveillance cameras work?

The principle of surveillance cameras is based on capturing a video of a specific space in the place where  they are installed, and then these images are transmitted from the cameras to a screen that displays what these cameras capture, which is unlike television broadcasts where they work to send the captured images to a specific receiver with closed signals No one else is allowed to receive it, allowing only these monitors or receivers connected to the cameras to monitor.

Surveillance cameras are characterized by having a wide range of imaging , which means that if they are placed in the corner of the room without obstacles, they will cover all parts of the room, in addition  to  the high resolution that they are characterized by due to the ability of screens that display video from high surveillance cameras to receive and display images with high quality.

It is possible to connect a (VCR) which is a television receiver so that the captured videos are recorded and saved in order to be referenced again when needed in the future. These cameras can be connected to the devices to be viewed or recorded via a unified cable The hub, but thanks to modern technology, it has become possible to connect these devices and cameras wirelessly to each other.

Power sources and communication in CCTV cameras

Most of the modern surveillance cameras work on the  Wi -Fi network , which means that the cameras must be installed within the range of  Wi -Fi signal encounters in the house or the place that is to be monitored, even if the network is interrupted by these cameras , they will still work, and most of the cameras are turned on. Surveillance cameras by means of a connecting adapter, but despite this we can move and move the cameras from one place to another.

When installing the cameras, we must determine the location of the exit or the place we want to monitor with these cameras, and it is possible to keep a spare extension cord on hand so that we can move the camera from one place to another, so that we adjust the angle we want to cover, and there are surveillance cameras It works with batteries that can be replaced and recharged again, and in this case it will be easier to move the camera from one place to another.

Types of surveillance cameras

There are three types of surveillance cameras:

Big Surveillance Cameras

They are the ordinary visual cameras that we see installed on the external gates of public or private facilities or homes as well. They are installed in places known to be monitored by surveillance cameras.

hidden surveillance cameras

Unlike the first type of cameras, they are small-sized cameras that are hidden hidden for surveillance. They can be installed outside and inside the facility as well. They are mostly used indoors, with a review of the legal restrictions on video surveillance cameras before these cameras are installed.

Wireless Surveillance Cameras

These cameras are flexible, as we can install them anywhere and change their place again easily, but they have the disadvantage that they can affect or be affected by other networks such as wireless Internet , mobile phone networks or other networks, resulting in a cut in the wireless signal of the camera.

Terms and conditions for installing CCTV cameras

Recently, several conditions and controls have been established for the installation of surveillance cameras in markets, hotels, universities, open and closed recreational sites, and private schools, and they differ according to the type of camera.

Fixed color cameras : The conditions include that the cameras be installed with a vision scale that can identify the identity of people and read car plates, and they must be installed at the exits and entrances to the facility, as well as corridors, parking lots , reception halls and other active locations in each facility.

Recordings must be kept for a minimum of 31 days, system servers and backup recording devices must be available in case anything happens to the primary equipment, the surveillance cameras that are installed must be able to capture and transmit images at a speed of at least 30/25 and in high quality So that the people and things that were captured are clearly distinguished, and the cameras system must be set with the correct dates and time and automatically to be displayed on the screen so that the times are used in identifying the many crimes that occur and are captured and these videos become strong physical evidence reinforced by image and time .

Hidden cameras : It is prohibited to install hidden surveillance cameras without approval from the designated authorities, as well as cameras that have the feature of zooming and panning in places that are characterized by privacy.

In order to preserve more privacy, the competent authorities stipulated for women’s facilities and buildings that surveillance cameras be installed at entrances and exits only, and that those responsible for operating and monitoring the system are entirely female staff, and whoever violates these controls and conditions in any way will be the owner of the facility responsible before the competent authorities.

The room responsible for controlling the monitoring system

There must be several conditions in the room responsible for controlling the monitoring system, so that it is far from visitors and they are prohibited from entering it as well. Entry is limited to officials on the system and those authorized to work in this room only, and there must be a record of entry and exit with the time  and date.
